{"id":931,"date":"2014-11-11T02:13:05","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T00:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.momental.net\/?p=931"},"modified":"2014-11-11T16:02:07","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T14:02:07","slug":"frikstailers-argentinamexico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.momental.net\/?p=931","title":{"rendered":"Frikstailers (Argentina\/M\u00e9xico)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FRIKSTAILERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Frikstailers<\/strong> (pronounced freak-stylers) rose from the eclectic Buenos Aires cumbia scene, turning the genre on its head with their unique style that saw <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefader.com\/2010\/08\/18\/premiere-frikstailers-zzk-mixtape-vol-10\/\">Fader magazine<\/a> describe them as &#8222;cumbia circuit-bent through neon dance tunes that interpret the most electric side of South America&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Bringing their incomparable brand of South American rhythm to London in December 2012, they headlined the taste-making Boiler Room and played a hyper-animated show at the New Empowering Church.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2013 they surprised MUTEK Mexico with a brand new side project called &#8222;Klik &amp; Frik&#8220; mentioned by XLR8R as one of the best 11 shows of the festival.<\/p>\n<p>To complete an eventful year, they toured Europe twice chosen as the closing act of the night for festivals such as <strong>Transmusicales<\/strong> (Rennes) and<strong> Worldtronics <\/strong>(Berlin).<\/p>\n<p>The duo of <strong>Rafa Caivano<\/strong> and <strong>Lisandro Sona<\/strong> released their first LP on <strong>ZZK Records<\/strong> entitled &#8222;En Son De Paz&#8220; in February 2013. This 12 track journey through time and space caught the attention of <strong>NPR, XLR8R, MTV Iggy, Zona de Obras<\/strong> and the French <strong>Mondomix,<\/strong> and was recently chosen as one of the top 10 albums of Latin indie music of 2013 by the prestigious Spanish newspaper El Pais.<\/p>\n<p>Their previous release <strong>&#8222;Bicho de Luz EP&#8220;<\/strong> (ZZK, 2010) also garnered critical acclaim, with Resident Advisor describing them as having taken &#8222;a sound as old and \u2018Western\u2019 as hip-hop and fleshed it out brilliantly with regional touches.&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>On May 15 Frikstailers are back with their new single, <strong>Crop Circles<\/strong>, the title track off their forthcoming EP, out mid June on <strong>ZZK Records<\/strong>. The single is a taste of what\u2019s to come, a sound they\u2019ve been exploring for the last year or so.
